I am sure it is no surprise when I say that you leave traces behind when you use the computer. This can be a bad thing from a privacy point of view, but also a good thing if you share your computer with someone else and you want to know what that someone else did on the PC. The free application History Viewer provides this type of functionality: it gathers the traces left behind and shows you what has been done on your computer.

The History Viewer installation file is 1.6MB in size, meaning it will take but a moment for the download to complete. A very simple setup wizard will help you install History Viewer on your Windows-powered machine when you run said installation file. Once the History Viewer installation completes, you will be asked to install the Babylon toolbar, change your homepage to Babylon Search, and make Babylon your default search engine. You don’t have to install the toolbar, change your homepage and search engine if you don’t want to.

The information History Viewer collects is grouped in categories and these categories are displayed in the left hand side of the application’s interface. History Viewer collects info about what web pages were accessed with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome, and displays information about Windows usage – recent documents, Run history, search history, other things of the sort.

Click the URL History button from the Internet Explorer category, for example, and in the pane to the right you will see a list of visited websites and the date and time when they were visited. Click the Recent Document button in the Windows Category and you will see a list of recently accessed documents. Go through all the buttons from all the categories to view all the usage data History Viewer collected and thus get a clear picture of what has been done on your PC.

You will not have to part with your money to enjoy the functionality History Viewer has to offer. The application is freeware.

In a centralized location, the freeware History Viewer application provides a lot of information about what happens on your computer – visited websites, accessed documents, other things of the sort.

Pros

History Viewer has a simple user interface. All the usage information it collects is grouped into categories. You can view and create reports. History Viewer is freeware. Links to Tracks Eraser Pro, a tool to erase all tracks of your internet activity.

Cons

Asks to install the Babylon toolbar and change your homepage and default search engine.
